NEW DELHI: The Army on Saturday destroyed key Pakistani posts and terrorist launch pads near Jammu, which were being used to launch tube-launched drones, according to defence sources cited by ANI. This comes in response to Pakistan’s recent cross-border drone and missile attacks that targeted multiple Indian military and civilian locations.
The retaliation followed a wave of Pakistani drone activity along the Line of Control (LoC). Over 26 locations from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat, were targeted by Pakistani drones, the defence ministry said. Most threats were intercepted by India’s air defence systems and "all such aerial threats are being tracked and engaged using counter-drone systems."

"Drones have been sighted at 26 locations along the International Border and LoC with Pakistan. These include suspected armed drones. The locations include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet and Lakhi Nala," the ministry said in a statement on X.
Amid this escalation, India responded with precision strikes targeting terrorist camps and Pakistani military infrastructure. As per ANI Sources, at least four airbases in Pakistan were struck. Heavy explosions were reported in the Dibber area of Udhampur, while houses were damaged in Rajouri and Akhnoor after sustained shelling. Smoke was also seen rising from multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan, meanwhile, claimed that Indian missiles and drones targeted its airbases in Rawalpindi, Chakwal and Jhang districts. At a late-night press conference in Islamabad, Pakistan military spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry said all air force assets were safe and vowed retaliation. Soon after, Pakistan state media reported a counter-attack and the country’s airspace was temporarily closed.
Security sources said India remains on high alert. Surface-to-air missile systems have been activated across northern regions, including Srinagar. Counter-drone operations are continuing along the LoC as intermittent firing persists, as per ANI.
The flare-up follows the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 dead. In response, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ earlier this week, targeting and destroying nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
