Fisheries departments of Gujarat and Maharashtra have issued alerts and warnings to the fishing community in their respective states not to venture out into the sea in view of the current tension between India and Pakistan. Gujarat has suspended issuing tokens for trawlers to venture out into the sea for fishing. The trawlers already at sea have been asked by fishermen associations to return to the harbours.

Shoot-to-kill orders have been issued in the ODA, the community has been warned. The advisory was issued Friday on Centre's directive to ensure 'no fishing zone' is strictly implemented in ODAs. Directives have been issued not to go fishing near oil rigs, or seek shelter around oil rigs in case of storms.
