Constable dies after fall during QRT's scheduled exercise

Nashik: A 39-year-old police constable attached to the city police commissionerate's Quick Response Team (QRT) died on Saturday morning following an accident during a fitness exercise at the foothills of Pandavleni Hill .

The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Shingade, a resident of Pimpalgaon Baswant. According to reports, Shingade was participating in a scheduled fitness session with 13 other members of the QRT, as directed by a senior officer. The incident occurred around 8.40 am during the warm-up phase of the exercise.

Shingade reportedly fell, sustaining a critical chest injury. Shingade complained of severe chest pain following which his team member, Sagar Koli, rushed him to a private hospital at Pathardi Phata. Shingade, however, died during the course of treatment at the hospital. The Indiranagar police have registered a case of accidental death in this regard.

Shingade is survived by his parents, wife, and a two-and-a-half-year-old son. Though a native of Pimpalgaon Baswant, Shingade resided at Borgad in Mhasrul area. He had joined the police force in 2008. For the past four years, he was posted in the QRT as a driver.
