The Battle Royale trend is alive and well after the launch of Battlefield RedSec. The Battlefield studio's latest take on the hugely popular 'fight to the death' elimination mode has surprised gamers everywhere, as thousands descend onto the Fort Lyndon map in search of great loot, non-stop action, and that all-important victory.
Each game starts the same way, as players board a plane and wait for the perfect moment to parachute into the action. Making sure you make the right choice of location is an important decision. One wrong move and you're back in the lobby before you know it, while finding somewhere with lots of potential can put you on the right course to getting that win.
The best landing spot really depends on the type of Battlefield player you are. Do you like to start somewhere quiet where you get enough time to ramp up your loadout and find a vehicle?
Or do you want to get stuck into the action from the word go? Making your way to the contested areas of the map where the best loot often is, compete for resources, notch a few kills, and show everyone else who is boss.
Luckily, Fort Lyndon has something to suit everyone. Here's a breakdown of some of the best places to drop in Battlefield RedSec.
Golf Course The most popular landing spot for a reason. Usually located directly under the plane's path, the Golf Course is one of the largest locations on the entire map.
You'll typically spot a dozen or so teams drop here, so it's important to be ready to get into some fights with your starting pistol as soon as you cut your parachute and your feet touch the ground.
Due to the popularity of this location, however, loot will be scarce, so prepare to battle for each and every resource: make every bullet count.
Should you not find a weapon, don't be afraid to take one of the many golf carts dotted around and hightail it away to someplace safer: perhaps number two on our list...
Chemical StorageAnother point of interest in Battlefield RedSec, Chemical Storage has everything a Battle Royale player could ever need.
Though less popular than the Golf Course, it boasts plenty of buildings hiding away great loot, while it can also spawn vehicles to give you a terrific start to the game.
Between three and six teams drop here in your average game, so you likely won't have the place to yourself so stay vigilant.
Boutique District and DowntownNothing screams loot quite like these two hotspots. Boutique District and Downtown are basically a combined POI located on the west side of the map.
There are dozens on dozens of buildings to find weapons and other loot, all it lacks is enough vehicles to escape the firestorm with.
It is a popular location, however, with multiple teams opting to drop there, but fear not, there's more than enough places to hide, and rooftops to snipe from.
Area 22BLast but not least, and my personal favourite, is Area 22B. Nestled away north of both Golf Course and Chemical Storage, it has so much rotation potential, as well as its fair share of great loot.
It's far enough out of the way that not many teams decide to land here, but you will still see one or two squads, so make sure you're ready for a chance encounter.
Vehicle spawns enable you to leave the area promptly, especially if the approaching firestorm forces a late escape.
