Anyone who fries sausages may want to try another cooking method for healthier results. Frying pans are often whipped out onto the hob for sausages but the technique has been criticised for the amount of extra fat it produces.

Instead, you should bake them in the oven, says BBC Good Food. They'll still taste just as good and you can put them into any meal in the same way you usually would. The sausage comes out juicy and tender each time, Kitchen Know How reports. The method is less messy than cooking sausage in a skillet or on the grill, it adds.

BBC Good Food says: "The fat in the sausages provides flavour, but if you'd prefer to reduce it, the best way is to bake them.

"Prick them first with a skewer so more fat can drain out during cooking.

"Once baked, they can be chopped and simmered in a sauce or stew, or even in the slow cooker, which will return some of the moisture lost during baking.

"Chopping the sausages up and mixing them with other ingredients is also a great way to make them serve more people."

Cooking sausages in the oven is also a great way to save time. Instead of having to tend to them while frying, you can simply place them into the oven and take them out once they're done.

The method also works for any type of sausage from breakfast sausages to chorizo or even flavoured sausages.

It's recommended to turn the sausages half way through to make sure they brown evenly.

If you're looking to boost flavour, you should marinate sausages for two to four hours before cooking.

BakedDish says: "My favorite all-purpose marinade combines olive oil, minced garlic, fresh herbs, and a splash of white wine or beer."

It adds that during the final five minutes of cooking, you should brush sausages with a honey mustard glaze. You can make this with honey, dijon mustard and apple cider vinegar.

By baking your sausages, you'll be able to ensure they'll be filled with flavour and will make a delicious addition to any meal.
