A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault after attacks on two teenage girls that took place within around 30 minutes of each other. The attacks happened in the area of the Digby and Sowton Train Station in Exeter, Devon, on Friday evening.
Devon and Cornwall Police said a 16-year-old girl was raped on Clyst Halt Avenue at around 9pm.
Approximately half an hour later, a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on the train platform, before being further assaulted while on a train travelling into Exeter St David's.
The force said the 19-year-old man remains in police custody and are appealing for information.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Pebworth said: "We believe that there were lots of people in the area of Digby and Sowton last night and we are urging anyone with information which may assist us to please get in touch.
"A number of scene guards will be in place today as we continue our investigation and there is an increased high visibility presence."
Both victims are being supported by specialist officers.
"At this time, we are not seeking anyone else in relation to these incidents," DCI Pebworth said.
