Gogglebox's Pete and wife's marriage from 'awkward' first date to her 'doing his head in'

Gogglebox's Pete Sandiford has become a beloved fixture on the programme, enjoying a blissful marriage to wife Paige spanning several years.

The television personality initially appeared on the enduring Channel 4 series in 2017 during its tenth season alongside sister Sophie - and they swiftly captured audiences' hearts.

Throughout the years, Pete and Sophie - who reside in Blackpool - have left viewers doubled over with laughter through their sharp wit, clever quips and hilarious commentary on television's finest moments.

Beyond the small screen however, Pete is smitten with his spouse Paige. The couple share two youngsters, Jimmy and Eva.

Pete has kept relatively quiet about his initial encounter with Paige, though in 2020 they made their relationship Instagram official - which is thought to have begun in 2019.

Accompanying an adorable snapshot of the duo, Pete wrote: "My Mrs and best mate what more could I ask for, don't worry @sophiesandiford1 you are a close second best friend. This was taken last year FYI."

Paige allegedly works as an Emergency Services call handler, having studied at Queen Mary University of London and previously been employed at House of Fraser.

Pete and Paige's 'awkward' first date

In 2022, Pete reminisced about his "awkward" initial date with Paige whilst appearing on Gogglebox. After viewing a Valentine's special of Channel 4's First Dates, Pete revealed: "It got quite awkward actually, our first date, when me and Paige went.

"We were in this bar in London and I bought this bloke a beer which, in London, people never seem to buy anyone else a drink. So he was like my best friend – he didn't leave us alone, so he was with us for the whole date!".

The blunder didn't prevent Pete and Paige from pursuing their romance as in 2021, the pair got married.

In November 2021, Pete posted a gorgeous photograph from their big day, marking their six-month wedding anniversary.

In the image, Pete and Paige were pictured strolling beside the ocean, with Pete praising his spouse in the caption, describing her as his "best mate, wife and the best mummy in the world".

That same year, the duo welcomed their first baby, Jimmy. Discussing fatherhood, Pete told The Mirror in 2021: "It's a bit overwhelming, got it all going on at the moment!".

He also confirmed his marriage news: "I'm married now! It was nerve-wracking but the best day of my life. Well second best day as I'm a dad now, too."

Pete and Paige's second baby, Eva was born in June 2023. Posting a sweet picture cuddling his newborn daughter, Pete penned: "Myself and @paigesandiford_ would like to welcome the newest addition to our family, Eva Sylvie Sandiford."

Pete admits Paige is 'doing his head in'

Pete previously opened up about a row he had with Paige, and revealed they once clashed over daughter Eva's birthday party arrangements.

While on Gogglebox, Pete said: "Paige has been doing my head in. You know [daughter] Eva's birthday party?'Have you rung about the hot pot? Have you rung about the hot pot?'".

"I was in a meeting at work the other day and she rang me four times. Guess what about? He joked: "Honestly, I said, 'Why are we not just having sandwiches? Do I look like I am Jeff Bezos?'".
