Of the 170,000 people who go missing in the UK each year, some cases remain etched in our minds, while others fade too quickly from public attention, if they were ever known at all.
Yet for the families and friends of those still missing, the need for answers and support never diminishes as hours, days, months, and years pass by.
This is why the Mirror has launched Missed . In partnership with Missing People, our mission is to bring awareness to every publicly listed missing person in the UK through our live, interactive map.
Simply zoom into your chosen area to see how many people have gone missing in that location. Zoom in further to reveal photos of missing persons plus the names, ages and length of time they’ve been missing.
Simple to use, the map allows you to report a sighting in confidence as well as share on social media.
For advice, support and options, if you or someone you love goes missing, text or call Missing People’s Helpline on 116 000 or email 116000@missingpeople.org.uk. It’s free, confidential and non-judgmental, and sightings information can also be taken. Or visit www.missingpeople.org.uk
