The latest episode of WWE Smack Down took place at Wright State University Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. With the pay-per-view of Backlash on the horizon, Undisputed champion John Cena and his challenger Randy Orton faced off on one more occasion and the latter outsmarted him by hitting another RKO.

The episode began with Damian Priest and LA Knight facing Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa in a tag team match, with three of the four competitors set to face one another in the United States title match at Backlash. LA Knight picked up the win for his team by hitting Sikoa with BFT. After the match, US champion Fatu hit both Knight and Priest and followed it up by raising his title. However, Mcintyre, who will also compete for the US title, planted Fatu with the Claymore.

The woman's division was up next, with the tag team match between Zelina Vega and Alexa Bliss and Chelsea Green and Piper Niven. Vega and Bliss emerged victorious after the latter hit Green with the Sister Abigail. Next up was the number one contender's match for the women's title. Nia Jax had comfortably secured a victory over Jade Cargill.

The men's tag team division was in action next as champions Street Profits faced Fraxiom in a non-title match, with the latter emerging victorious. Aleister Black next took on Carmelo Hayes, with Miz by the ringside. The latter lost after Black rolled him up for the win. The Miz later copped the Black Mass as the former WWE Champion tried to get into the ring after the match.
