An Advance Tax Awareness Outreach Programme was organized by Ms. Maya Maheshwari, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax-27, Mumbai, and chaired by Amlan Tripathy, Hon’ble Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-3, Mumbai, on 08.09.2025 at the Navi Mumbai Sports Association, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. The event witnessed the participation of prominent Chartered Accountants along with taxpayers.
The objective of the session was not only to serve as a reminder but also to create awareness about the importance of timely payment of Advance Tax, thereby helping taxpayers avoid penal interest under sections 234B and 234C of the Income Tax Act. Several participants endorsed the Department’s view that timely payment of Advance Tax contributes towards nation building by supporting infrastructural development and facilitating the equitable distribution of tax payments, thereby avoiding last-minute bottlenecks at the end of the financial year.
The queries raised by participants on issues such as early disposal of appeals, appeal giving effect, rectifications, among others, were addressed and clarified during the session.
The programme concluded with widespread appreciation for the initiative, recognizing it as a commendable step towards engaging taxpayers and promoting compliance with advance tax provisions.
