Bloating Cause and Remedies: Many people are troubled by the problem of bloating. Recently, Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist and liver specialist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford University, shared a video on his Instagram. In this video, the doctor has given 3 main reasons for bloating. Let's know about them-
Food
What you eat has a direct effect on the digestive system. According to Dr. Sethi, some carbohydrates like lactose (found in milk), fructose (fruit sugar), fructans (in wheat and other grains), and sorbitol (in many fruits) are difficult to digest. These can ferment in the intestine and produce gas, which causes bloating. This means that bloating can occur not only from junk food, but also from healthy food.
IBS or functional dyspepsia
Conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional dyspepsia can also be major causes of bloating. In these problems, the movement of the intestines becomes abnormal, due to which gas gets trapped, and the stomach feels bloated. Dr. Sethi says that the intestines of such people become more sensitive to changes in bacteria, and even a slight stress or change in food can cause gas and bloating.
Constipation
Apart from all this, doctors also cite constipation or not clearing the stomach properly as a cause of bloating. According to Dr. Sethi, even if you go to the toilet every day, if the food stays in the colon for a long time, gas and fermentation increase. Constipation makes the intestine even more sensitive, which increases the problem of bloating.
How to get relief?
Doctors say that to avoid bloating, a change in diet is the most important. Pay attention to your diet. If you feel gassy after eating something, then avoid eating it next time or eat it in smaller quantities.
Apart from this, drink enough water and eat fiber-rich foods. This will provide relief from constipation.
Along with all this, avoid taking too much stress about anything. To control stress, you can do regular exercise and meditation.
At the same time, if bloating persists even after adopting these measures, then it is important to consult a doctor.
